Senior Design Engineer (Wastewater / Water / Stormwater)

Job Details Description Our Virginia Beach office is currently seeking a Senior Engineer with a capability and familiarity with mechanical engineering as it pertains to municipal pump station design (equipment, piping and controls) and linear conveyance experience for the water industry (wastewater, potable water and stormwater). The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and executing the design of municipal wastewater, stormwater, and water facilities and maintaining and enhancing relationships with existing clients. Detailed Description:
Manage and execute work on wastewater, stormwater, and water utilities including pumping station and conveyance systems planning and design. Successfully manage and deliver projects on time and on budget. Utilize internal project management tools and resources. Perform technical research and be able to communicate and apply this knowledge. Lead project teams in planning and/or designing a major engineering project and coordinate special planning, economic, and engineering studies. Strong Civil 3D experience. Provide consultation in specialized areas related to efficient design management for projects Make decisions and solve problems. Participate in improving company resources and tools to improve design production and efficiency. Prepare and make presentations to clients and for professional meetings Direct the work of drafters and designers, coordinate with other disciplines Supervise, delegate and oversee the work of technical staff and engineers Assist with business development pursuits Coach and mentor junior engineers and designers. Experience:
B.S. degree in Civil, Mechanical Engineering with an Environmental focus and P.E. required Candidate should have at least 7 years of increasingly responsible, professional experience in the study, design, and construction administration of municipal wastewater facilities Professional registered engineer in the State of Virginia or the credentials to obtain registration in a timely manner is also required The candidate should have the ability to successfully manage clients and projects in a collaborative fashion and interface with Brown and Caldwell's local, regional, and national practitioners as well as help mentor junior staff Previous business development experience (writing winning proposals and successfully pursuing work) is a plus Past experience serving the Hampton Roads localities and HRSD is a plus. Experience should include:
conveyance system design, design of fluid dynamics and pumping systems, and ability to research equipment and technologies. Demonstrated strong project management skills Ability to focus on client needs while balancing multiple priorities including but not limited to project management, design, bidding and construction management services. Successful proposal writing and public presentations experience Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare written reports and documents Valid driver's license and good driving record Benefits and Other Compensation:
