Civil Stormwater Engineer

This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Civil Stormwater Engineer for our Virginia Beach, VA office.
The successful candidate will support planning, analysis, design, compliance, and preparation of contract documents for construction of stormwater infrastructure including conveyance systems, pump stations, flood control structures, stormwater management facilities, and associated restoration efforts.

Join us in doing purposeful, sustainable work that helps shape our communities and the future! Your Impact Perform professional civil engineering on roadway, stormwater and site projects for multiple federal, state, and local clients.
Develop stormwater models and perform hydraulic and hydrologic analysis using SWMM and other industry standard engineering software.
Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations, which includes developing GIS-based figures and supporting calculations.
Develop construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
Calculate costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
Work collaboratively as part of a multi-discipline team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
Regularly coordinate and communicate with project teams, manager, and civil team.
Attend and participate in project team meetings.
Interface with clients as needed and support business development initiatives.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Biological System Engineering, or closely related discipline.
3 to 5 years of relevant post education experience in engineering discipline and prior stormwater design experience.
Engineer-in-Training Certification.
Proficient knowledge of engineering principles, practices, process, and design with well-defined specific knowledge of stormwater construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to apply technical knowledge to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, statistical analysis and arriving at the most effective, economical, and logical solution.
Ability to coordinate with agency regulators and clearly describe project components to resolve project-related issues.
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Effective self-leadership with attention to detail, results orientation, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment.
Proficiency with discipline-specific design software (i.
e.
, PCSWMM, ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Geopak, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS).
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications PE licensure in Virginia or ability to obtain within 12 months.
Experience working in coastal regions that experience tidal flooding.
Experience working with municipal clients in the Hampton Roads region.
Virginia DEQ plan reviewer certification for stormwater management and/or erosion control.
Working knowledge of roadway and utility design principles, practices, and processes.
Affiliation with local or national engineering organizations.
Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
