Overview:
Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant within our cellular therapy department located in our cancer center located in Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients in an outpatient setting
  • Initiate and document appropriate interventions
  • Evaluate and record patient and family response within practice protocol
  • Prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation
  • Assess patient and family needs and provides education
  • Promotes/provides staff education
  • Serve as a liaison between inpatient, skilled nursing, and home setting
  • Incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice

Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program for nursing education and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program or successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant hematology/oncology experience is preferred
  • Experience and knowledge in the management of the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment
  • RN State License and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state, along with current state certification of Nurse Practitioner or current state license as a Physician Assistant
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Must be willing to travel to the various practice locations
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
